The Medical Coder is responsible and accountable for accurate coding and abstracting of all patient records as established in the guidelines and procedures of the H.I.M. Department, including ER/Inpatient, Outpatient, Outpatient Surgery, and hospital based clinic patients. Must be an active Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Procedural Coder (CPC). Must have three (3) years of hospital medical records coding and/or 3 years as a physician office coder or a graduate of an accredited H.I.M. training program. Licensure/Certification in RHIT, RHIA, CCS, or, CPC. Must be well-organized, conscientious, an independent worker with initiative, able to handle responsibility, strong communications, and human relations skills.
