Essential Duties and Responsibilities (scope):
• Review and understand project scoping documents and P&ID’s.
• Coordinate with project mechanical engineering to determine electrical load requirements.
• Determine available electrical power and control sources for feeding and automating project equipment by visiting jobsite, reviewing project drawings or interfacing with site personnel and the local utility.
• Coordinate with project civil/structural engineering to determine plant layout for optimization of electrical equipment locations.
• Perform calculations to size electrical equipment such as switchgear, transformers, motor control centers, breakers, cables, uninterruptible power supplies and batteries based on project requirements, electrical source rating, available fault current, and circuit distance.
• Coordinate with project process engineering to develop control systems.
• Develop project electrical specifications and data sheets including electric motors.
• Coordinate with purchasing department to procure electrical equipment including bid review.
• Attend project meetings.
• Direct Instrument & Electrical designers in developing electrical one-lines, wiring drawings, power plans, lighting layout, area class drawings, power panel schedules, grounding drawings, installation details, and cable/conduit schedule.
• Check design documents prior to issuing for construction.
• Construction support.
• Participate in project estimating and scheduling.
• Interviewing of prospective employees.
Qualifications:
• Knowledge of low voltage power distribution.
• Knowledge of relay logic including motor control schematics, and hardwired process & safety control.
• Knowledge of process measuring devices such as temperature, pressure and flow metering including transmitters.
• Proficiency with Microsoft office suite of products.
• Knowledge of National Electrical Code, ANSI, NEMA, IEEE ISA Standards, API Recommended Practices, and IEC.
• Basic knowledge of rotating equipment as related to electrical system design for motor starting and steady state load analysis.
• AutoCAD and PLC.
• Experience in raceway system design including cable tray support, voltage level separation considerations.
• Knowledge of Area Classification requirements for the purpose of design drawing development and equipment specification.
Qualifications
• BSEE
• Minimum 10 years of experience in power and control system engineering.
